Since we are covering Albinism this week, the rare autosomal recessive disorder My challenge for you this week is to post a link to a great photograph of an organism with Albinism.

Hi,
I happen to BE an organism that is albino, I married another organism who is albino and gave birth to two more that are albino (there's a discussion topic scholars, because it isn't necessarily a given when two organisms (well at least human ones) with albinism mate that their offspring will be affected).
The term albino while scientifically accurate, is often offensive to people with albinism. To me it is descriptor, to many, it is a slur. Just an FYI :)
Ok, so I'm not in the class, but I'm going to include a link anyway because I hope you'll understand that while albinism is a genetic condition, real people live with the condition and we may be unique looking, but we are not freaks.

What do you know? I'm another organism with albinism - evil grin! Lots of pics on my blog. I have a very rare type of albinism (there are lots of types) called HPS - Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
It might be noted that it isn't always easy to spot people, or animals, with albinism. We don't all look like you would expect.
Bravo for such interesting challenges to your students! Sounds like fun!
