HEY HEY SCHOLARS!!!
Its your friendly neighborhood Biology Teacher, Mr. D.
For this weeks post I would like you to analyze one FULL meal you had this week and I would like you to categorize and break down the whole meal as either: Carbohydrate (sugar), Protein, Lipid, or Starch.
For the second part I would like you to tell me what solution or test we could run to prove that each food belongs in each category. (Hint categorize as using BENEDICT'S Solution, BUIRET'S Solution, Iodine, Paper Bag)
Have a great Week!!!

Tabitha’s Meal:
• Mini Corndogs
• 2% Milk
• Chocolate Chip Cookie
• French Fries
Mini Corndogs be categorized as carbohydrates, and would be tested this with benedict
2% Milk as protein, and would test this with bluret
Chocolate chip cookie as carbohydrates, and would be tested this with benedict
French fries as carbohydrates, and would be tested with benedict
Today for lunch I ate:
A Ham sandwich with cheese and white bread, a cheese thing or cheese string, and pretezels with a Wild Cherry Capri Sun to drink.
The sandwich is a carbohydrate for the bread and a protein for the ham and cheese. The cheese string would be a protein and pretezels would be carbohydrates. The capri sun is a carbohydrate also. You could test the pretzels, the two pieces of bread(for the sandwich), and the capri sun with benedict and the ham, cheese, and the cheese string with bluret.
Ashley Maccherone from 4th period's Awesome Meal:
Pork Chops, baked beans, Mac-n-cheese, and my favorite Oreo’s in peanut butter!
Pork Chops, baked beans, and peanut butter are considered a protein so I would test them all by using Biurets, in which it should turn purple.
Mac-n-cheese is a starch and so I would test it using iodine and if the test was positive I should get the color black.
Oreo's contain glucose, otherwise known as sugar, so I would test it using Benedict’s in heat. The result should be orange.
Oh and I decided to be somewhat healthy and drink water. :] hehe
