Scholars,
As we move through the protocol for scientific method this week, we realize how important it is to study other scientific research before conducting our own. For this weeks online assignment I would like you to find a biological article (periodical) (of your choice of topic) online, make sure the link to the article is in your post and discuss/sumarize the research you found.
(ABSTRACTS ARE OK but full text is preferred)
Here is a hint: go to google, at the top of the page click more... then click scholar then all you have to do is type in the topic of your choice.

Estimations of whether or not someone would carry breast and ovarian cancer based family history and calculated to determine what age they would get cancer by and their risk for it.
I found this pretty interesting because my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a year and a half ago and the only case of it was in some distant relative.
This experiment was done ultimately for the purpose of doctors knowing who to target for screenings and who'd be at higher risk until large-scale population-based screening for breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility genes is possible.

Hi Mr. Dillman,
This is Ashley Maccherone from your 4th period Biology class. Earlier today I was questioned to put my hand against one of my friends to compare the sizes. I found it very interesting that his was almost the same size as mine. I started to think about finger lengths and wondered if they had anything to do with personality. It turns out those adult men who have feminine finger length ratios are more likely to be diagnosed with depression. It is said that if an adult man's ring finger is longer than their index finger than it indicates exposure to low testosterone levels. The same genes that control the development of fingers also control the sex hormones. In conclusion finger lengths prove that depression is due to the effects of sex hormones.

This is Jason Davis from your 4th period class. I decided to do my article on global warming because I am not really sure if I believe it is such a big problem and because I had to do a project in english dealing with global warming.
In the article I found it stated that the earth had warmed up 0.6 degrees celcius over the past 100 years.
The experiment was conducted to see how the rise in temperature affects animal and plant species. It stated that 80% of the species that they tested showed signs of adaption toward the rising temperatures.
It also said that the temperatures could greatly disrupt habitats of species. The rising temperatures could cause a species community to change. This continuous rise in temperature could eventually cause animals and plants to become extinct.

The main reson that i looked at moose is becuse it is my nick name and i wanted to find out what the scientif name is wich just hapens to be Alces Alces!! and what eles i learned was that only the Bull Moose hs antlers and that he sheds them every winter. Also,Moose kill more people every year than bears do. I aslo looked up the feeding habits. The Female Moose with young tend to stay on the island away from the wolves or other preditors!! Thats just Kool!!! :)
As a cheerleader, staying fit and being strong is very important. but what normally happens when exercising and dieting to stay in shape is we lose self control and focus on losing weight. Even if it means not staying healthy at the same time.I found a website that studied the association between diet and CVD risk factors in members of a university marching band, dance team and cheer squad.
Members of a mid-sized university marching band located in the southwest part of the United States (N = 232) participated in the study. Of the 31 total cheerleaders and dance members who consented to participate in the study, only seven responded to the nutrition survey. The members participated in many of free fitness testing and nutrition counseling. Cheerleading and dance are considered 'weight-conscious' sports. With the three together it probably could have made the results biased.
